A floor is lava game you play on websites
Floor Is Lava is a mode in the Tabzooka Chrome extension. You start at the bottom of a web page while lava rises from below, and you climb by jumping between the page’s own elements and stacking crates. Your jetpack only has half a tank and doesn’t refill in the air, so you have to keep moving.

How the mode works
The page becomes the climb. Headlines, images and boxes are your ledges, and the lava below rises steadily. Fall in and you’re popped back out with less health; stay ahead of it and you reach the top.
- Weak jetpack: half a tank, with no refills in the air. Jumping between ledges matters more than flying.
- Build your own steps: press B to drop a crate below or in front of you, and press again to stack. You can build one every 2 seconds.
- Crates are wood: lava and fire burn them, and anything stacked on top collapses with them.
The best page to try it on
Tabzooka ships with a page built for this: the Sky Tower arena, 26 floors from the street to the roof. Open it from the extension’s toolbar icon. Any long website works too, and every level you beat on a site becomes a checkpoint you can restart from.
Floor is lava with friends
Up to 6 players can climb the same page together. With more players the lava rises faster, so a full room is the hardest climb in the game. See how to start a game on the same Wi-Fi.
What it costs
Floor Is Lava is a Pro mode ($5 a month or $30 forever). The free version of Tabzooka includes Free Play and Target Rush with 2 heroes, so you can try the controls before deciding. All five modes are on the modes page.
From the living room to the browser
Floor is lava started as a kids’ game: someone shouts it, and everyone has to get off the floor before the count runs out, scrambling onto couches and chairs. The browser version keeps the panic and adds a goal. Instead of furniture, you have a web page’s headlines and images, and instead of a shout, real lava that keeps climbing.
Strategy that actually works
- Build before you need to. Stack crates while you still have time. Waiting until the lava is at your feet is how runs end.
- Don’t rely on the jetpack. It refills only on the ground, and in this mode you start with half a tank. Use it to correct a jump, not to fly.
- Brake before you land. Long falls hurt you, but braking with the jetpack just before you land counts as catching yourself.
- Watch your bottom crate. Lava burns wood, and when a crate goes, everything stacked on it collapses.
The best heroes for climbing
Some heroes are built for this mode:
- Nova has a double jump.
- Rex takes no fall damage at all.
- Granite can raise a Stone Pillar, a ready-made step.
- Weft builds a Web Bridge across gaps.
- Merlo places an Updraft Rune that lifts you.
- Zook drops a Launch Pad, and Brick places a Steel Girder.
Hero tools are part of Pro, and each one recharges on its own timer.
Levels, checkpoints and records
Each Floor Is Lava level is harder than the last, with faster lava. Every level you beat on a site becomes a checkpoint you can start from, and the game remembers your best run on every site. There’s also a global top-20 leaderboard for the mode; enter a name once and later runs post automatically.
The Sky Tower, floor by floor
The Sky Tower arena was built for this mode: 26 floors stacked from the street to the roof, with desks, plants, crates and window ledges on every level. It’s tall enough that you can’t jetpack your way up, and it has enough ledges that a good climber never needs to. Open it from the Tabzooka icon under Play in an arena.
Mistakes that end a climb
- Jetpacking early. An empty tank at the bottom of a long gap means a fall into the lava.
- Standing on one crate too long. Lava and fire burn wood, and a tower built on one burning crate collapses.
- Ignoring the fall. Long falls hurt. Brake with the jetpack just before you land.
- Climbing alone in a full room. With more players the lava speeds up, so split up and take different routes.
More questions
What happens when the lava catches me? You take a burn and get popped back out on top of the lava, so one slip doesn’t end the run, but each dip costs health.
Can I play it on any website? Yes. Any long page works as a climb; the Sky Tower is just the one designed for it.
Is there a leaderboard? Yes, a global top-20 board for Floor Is Lava, shown on the results screen.
How it compares to the other modes
Most of Tabzooka is about destruction. Floor Is Lava flips that: destroying the page can work against you, because the elements you break are the ledges you need. It rewards planning and building more than aim, which makes it a good change of pace after Web Invasion or Demolition, and a good mode for players who are newer to shooters.
It also plays very differently from page to page. A long blog post is a steady vertical climb with lots of small text ledges. A shop page with big product cards gives you wide platforms but bigger gaps between them. A news front page has chunky headline blocks that make great stepping stones. Trying the same mode on different sites is half the fun.
A quick routine for your first climb
- Open the Sky Tower arena from the Tabzooka icon and choose Floor Is Lava.
- Before the lava reaches you, stack two or three crates with B to get a head start.
- Jump from ledge to ledge, using the jetpack only to correct a short jump.
- Keep an eye on the timer and your health; one heart is lost to each dip in the lava.
- When you clear a level, it becomes your checkpoint, so the next try starts higher.
